Senior Fixed Asset Accountant

The post holder will carry out the budgeting, financial accounting, forecasting, reporting and reconciliation of fixed assets functions for the Ministry as a whole (Entity and Executive books). The post holder will also assist the Fixed Asset and Inventory Controller in various areas as the need arises including inventory monitoring and reporting.

Required qualifications, experience and skills include the following:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, economics or related field sufficient to successfully perform duties of role as described.
  • Three (3) years of accounting experience required; however experience in governmental accounting preferred.
  • (3) years’ experience managing fixed asset tracking systems/ledgers including reconciliation to general ledger, closing the books, reconciling balance sheet accounts, reviewing financials (including balance sheet, reconciliations, financial reports).
  • Possess a strong knowledge of the Public Management and Finance Law (PMFL), International Public Sector Accounting Standards, and the accounting practices followed within the Cayman Islands Government is highly desirable.
  • Strong numerical skills and experience with computer accounting packages, database and advance spreadsheet applications are also essential.
  • Good human relation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with the public, elected officials, members of boards and commissions, department heads and other employees of the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports, Agriculture and Lands.
