Dancers, musicians, poets, a hand-painted Mercedes-Benz and the chance to win a cultural trip to New York are just some of the reasons to get a ticket to the ĎArt tools for schoolsí gala dinner and show hosted by the Ministry of Education, Training, Employment, Youth, Sports & Culture this Friday (15th) at the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman. The event celebrates 25 successful years of Caymanís beloved National Childrenís Festival of the Arts and is a fundraiser from which proceeds will contribute towards the purchase of visual and performing arts equipment for the children of Caymanís new High Schools. Hon. Alden McLaughlin, JP, Minister of Education, Training, Employment, Youth, Sports & Culture said that, ďThis occasion represents the ideal opportunity for those who have supported Caymanís youth in creative pursuits over the years to join en-masse to celebrate a very special programme in fitting style.Ē He added, ďThe overwhelming support that the NCFA has received over the past quarter-of-a-century has enabled thousands of children to express their creative talents through a variety of means, and provided some of them with a platform from which they have launched successful careers. This event is not just a celebration of the arts; it is a celebration of our childrenís artistic and cultural development, past and future, and all the great many individuals who have worked so hard to support it.Ē Guests of ĎArt tools for schoolsí will enjoy an impressive array of performances and exhibitions on the night from Caymanís cultural fraternity, young and older. These include art exhibits, dance-troops, and musical performances. An eye-popping Mercedes-Benz, which was provided for the event courtesy of Autohaus, was hand-painted by children from the high schools on the George Hicks campus and will be on display for guests to marvel at as they enter the Ritz-Carlton on the night. Guests will be entered into a prize draw to win a cultural trip to New York including airfare, accommodation and Broadway show tickets. In addition tickets to a variety of Cayman Airways destinations will be auctioned. Members of the public and corporate bodies are strongly encouraged by the Ministry to support this fundraiser for the arts in Caymanís schools and not to miss out on what promises to be one of the most colourful and stylish highlights of this yearís cultural calendar. Tickets cost $200 per person or $1,800 for a table of ten, and can be purchased from the Ministry by calling 244 2417 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. The event starts with cocktails at 6pm and a variety of artistic performances. Dress is formal with creative flair.
