Cayman Reads
- The "Cayman Reads" programme, a first of its kind in the Cayman Islands. This programme will provide monthly book recommendations for children and teenagers through the end of the year, courtesy of the Cayman Islands Public Library Service and Ministry of Education.
Early Childhood Care & Education
- The Ministry of Education, Training and Employment established the Early Childhood Care and Education Unit to support their goal "to ensure that all children, regardless of income, special education need or background, have access to high quality early childhood care and education" (Stabilization Plan, January 2011)
Cayman Islands National Professional Standards for Teachers
- These will ensure consistency and promote excellence and professionalism in government schools.
New Graduation Criteria for Government High Schools
- The Ministry of Education, Training & Employment has established new criteria for graduation from government high schools. These criteria have been produced following extensive stakeholder consultation and will apply to all students graduating from government schools from June 2014. The criteria from 2014 will, for the first time, include academic criteria.

Extended After-School Programme for High School Students
- On behalf Ministry of Education, Training and Employment (METE) and the Ministry of Health, Environment, Youth, Sports and Culture (MHEYSC), we hope you had a great summer holiday. The Extended After School Programme was piloted in the secondary schools from April-June 2011, because of its success, the METE and MHEYSC has partnered together to offer this programme once again. Special Education Needs Report
- Compiling this report required numerous hours of interviews with current and past professionals employed within the Ministry of Education, Government agency stakeholders, and most importantly, parents and concerned citizens of the Cayman Islands during the months of October and November of 2006. It may have been uncomfortable for many to provide such direct input, but in all cases, participants were thoroughly honest and passionate in regard to the current system for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
The new National Curriculum for Schools 2008
- The review of the Cayman Islands National Curriculum for schools has been completed after an extensive review and wide – ranging consultation. This is strategy 2 of the government’s 10 strategies for reform, as outlined in the National Consensus on the Future of Education document.
