Project Scope

On Behalf of the Cayman Islands Government (CIG), the Ministry of Education, Training, Employment, Youth, Sports & Culture (the Client) intends to proceed with the design and construction of one elementary school, to be located in the district of George Town. The school shall be capable of accommodating between 500 students; the school must be completed and ready for occupancy by August of 2009. On completion, the school will be handed over to the Cayman Islands Education Department, who will be responsible for the school operation and maintenance.

Description of Services

The services required include, but are not limited to provisions of design ,design development drawings, planning and building control submission, full construction documentation (including structural, MEP, ID, Data, Commissioning, and FF&E) and post award contract administration. A full scope of works will be contained in the tender documentation package.

The proposed works includes the design of one primary school at George Town.

The size of the school will range between 50,000 to 60,000. Sq. Ft and will include ancillary facilities such as car parking sports and playing areas. The buildings in this school will serve as Designated Hurricane Shelters, and will be built to appropriate shelter standards.

Eligibility for Tender

Interested firms will need to meet the following eligibility criteria in order to be considered and evaluated.

1. Have completed the design of at least two Educational Facilities with-in the last ten years.
2. Proven ability in innovative, contemporary school design which incorporates the broadest use of technology on the campus.
3. Ability to acquire professional indemnity insurance to a minimum value of CI $1,000,000.00
4. Companies or individuals tendering must comply with all applicable local laws including business registrations, pensions and other regulations and any other regulations.
5. Bidders are reminded that the bids should be inclusive of all cost necessary for them to conduct business in the Cayman Islands.

Late tenders will not be accepted. The Cayman Islands Government will not defray any cost incurred by tenderers or be bound to assign any reason for not accepting any tender.
